If you aren’t reading
8 04 2008the comments sections after the online news articles, you’re missing half the fun. Cut and pasted from one such comment by Tyler Durden:

Update (Apr 15/08): I have added a page that lists critics of the Lamrock plan and/or the Croll/Lee report.

Adding to the list:
Diana Hamilton and Matthew Litvak, Statistics professors, Mount Allison and authors of Litvak-Hamilton analysis of Croll-Lee Report
Canadian Parents for French
Joan Netten, Designer of Intensive French
Bernard Lord, head of Bilingualism Committee of Canada and former Premier
Fred Genesee, Professor and Researcher of Bilingualism, McGill University
Geoff Martin, Professor Political Science, Mount Allison University
Helene Deacon, language and literacy professor, Dalhousie University
Univerisity of New Brunswick Math and Statistics Department (analysis in the Commission’s report is incorrect; fail to see how the far-reaching recommendations of the report follow from the analyses presented therein)
Bernard Richard, Ombudsman (not against changes, but recommends a one year moratorium; conducting investigation)
and most important: PARENTS and CITIZENS
Does anyone have stats to dispute this claim by Jimmy of Moncton who said
“The French immersion program is an abysmal failure. For every one of you who say you have successfully made your way through the French immersion program, congratulations. You are in the top 1 percentile. But you must recognize that there are 90%+ of the students that this system has failed. The stats don’t lie. In one of the earlier posts a bilingual gentleman said he has interviewed many English (bilingual) students and none were even proficient”
You can find this on the CBC comments site:

Thanks,

But of course the NB Home and School Associations and the DEC Chairs are supporting Lamrock. And don’t you dare suggest this woman has anything to do with that support:
Patricia Lee resume from gnb.ca: Lee has held many different executive positions at several Home and School Associations as her children moved on to different schools. Lee has also served for many years on both the District and Provincial Home and School executives…..When governance changed again she was elected to the DEC and has been chairperson of District 16 Education Council since 2002.
