It’s “Write the Premier Week”
28 03 2008Shawn Graham is Missing…But Our Letters Can Find Him!
From the Facebook event page:
Several Liberal MLAs had the courage to come out of their sanctum, and listen to the crowd’s reaction [at the rally on March 27]. One man, however, was missing…
Shawn Graham.
The Premier of New Brunswick was too afraid to step outside the safety of the Legislature, and face the citizens of New Brunswick. The man who we hired to represent our concerns lacked the intestinal fortitude to listen to a seven year old girl ask the Government for her French back.
We can’t force Shawn Graham to leave the Legislature to hear our concerns. However, for the price of one stamp, you can send your concerns directly to him.
We need everyone to write an old fashioned letter to the Premier. Nothing would get our point across better than a sack of mail landing on his desk.
Write a letter, and ask the Premier what scared him so much on March 27. How can we expect the Premier to stand up to Stephen Harper when he can’t even face a seven year old girl?
You can write the Premier at:
Hon. Shawn Graham
Office of the Premier
Centennial Building

Another option is also faxing, let’s hit every medium here…
I sent the following fax to Mr. Lamrock this morning in response to his misleading twisting of my question last night:
Dear Kelly,
I would like to congratulate you on your performance last night during the question period at the Capitol Theatre. It was clear that you were able to demonstrate, unquestionably, to everyone why you are the politician and I am not.
I asked you a very specific question about how this Intensive French program would be accessible or inclusive for my child; instead of answering my question, you took what I asked and expounded on the fact that I was, “Making a blanket statement that all special needs children couldn’t learn French.” You repeated that exact phrase several times in your pseudo answer to me. You are obviously not an uneducated person and you knew what I was asking; you also knew (as did I) that you were unable to answer it last evening. I understand you were on the hot spot last night but I have to express my feelings to you about what you felt it necessary to do to me.
As a lifelong Liberal supporter, I just wanted to let you know that I would’ve had a lot more respect for you when answering my question if you had: a.) spoken in people first language, and b.) admitted the truth, that you might not have all the answers about how this will work for all children and you don’t have the resources to make this work in six months for all children. Instead of admitting the possibility of fallibility in this specific matter relating to this whole issue, you chose to invoke an ad hominem attack, in an attempt to make me look like I was saying something negative about all children with special needs (I’m no fancy lawyer or politician, Mr. Lamrock, but I know a little about arguing and the standard principles of intellectual discourse). Everyone who knows me, knows that is the complete antithesis of who I am and what I believe. I have dealt with a plethora of doctors, surgeons, therapists, and educational specialists over the past ten years and some of them who I have the utmost respect for have been the ones who’ve said, “I don’t know Lis, but I’ll help you find the answer.”
Despite this, I would still sincerely like the opportunity to talk with you and John Kershaw, who I had the opportunity to meet in Halifax at APSEA previously, off camera and “off-politician” to discuss this other side of the whole issue. I’m still having such a hard time believing I’m fighting against Liberals about this type of thing for the second time in seven months.
